Daniel McGuire, Sr., born 1816 (birth calculated from 1870 and 1880 census) in PA, died 6 May 1892 in Okobojo, Sully Co, SD, married circa 1845 in PA to Isabelle 'Belle' McCormick, born 1825 in PA, died 25 June 1894 in Okobojo, Sully Co, SD.  Parents of Daniel and Isabelle are unknown, but family legend says both their fathers were in the War of 1812 (probably from PA).

They came from Indiana Co, PA and lived in Blairsville, Black Lick and Latrobe.  That county was not required to keep vital statistics so I found none from 1852 to 1892.  There are a few tax records, etc. but I could not tell whether they were for Daniel, Sr. or Daniel, Jr.

Daniel McGuire, Sr. was a farmer in Indiana Co, PA and in Sully Co, SD.  In Spring 1884 Daniel, Sr., his wife Isabelle, unmarried daughter Emma and Emma's daughter Fannie, daughter Belinda and her husband George W. Rager, unmarried son Daniel, Jr., unmarried son Nelson, daughter Harriet and a few other relatives left Indiana Co, PA and arrived by train in Blunt, Hughes Co, SD on 10 Mar 1884.

All the children were Jenny, John E., Thomas, Catherine (died young), Belinda, Daniel Jr., Harriet, Emma (my ancestor), and Nelson.

Daniel McGuire, Sr. homesteaded 160 acres at SW 1/4 of Sec 25, Twp 115, R79W, near Okobojo, Sully Co, SD.

Gravestone, erected about 1992, reads, “Daniel McGuire, Sr. 1820-1893”.  Parents unknown.
