ADVICE
Advice is freely given
It's as plentiful as weeds
It's a thing a fool don't care for
And a wise man seldom needs.
But your trips will be a pleasure
And vacations turn out nice
If you pay attention
To a little good advice.
Now I'll give you folks a pointer
Who like to drive and roam
If the roads are pretty icy
You'd better stay at home.
But if you think you want to knock
On someone else's door
If you're in a great big hurry
You should start the day before.
'Cause the friend that is expecting you
To ring the bell at noon
Would rather you're a little late
Then forty years too soon.
So my friends please take it easy
Don't be stepping on the gas
Watch but for signs, hills, and bridges
If you think you have to pass.
If you're driving in the evening
Then don't eat a heavy meal
Let your drinks be strong black coffee
If you're parked behind the wheel.
Commit this poem to memory
It may help you as you drive
And perhaps you'd better heed it
If you cant to stay alive.
Then, your trip will be successful
Not a broken heart or home
And the life that you are saving
May turn out to be your own.
