IF LOU WAS SWEET SIXTEEN AGAIN AND I WAS TWENTY-TWO
I was sitting at home one evening
After my work was done.
The trees cast out long shadows
Behind a setting sun.
The radio was playing songs of bygone years
"Tie Me To Your Apron Strings," and "Among My Souvenirs."
I drifted backwards twenty years and wondered what I'd do
If Lou was sweet sixteen again and I was twenty-two.
Would we do the same things over with hearts so gay and free
Would we go to shows and dances in our old Model T
Would we sing the same songs over, the songs we used to do
If Lou was sweet sixteen again and I was twenty-two.
