POLIO

The New Year's come, the Old Year's gone,
As tine forever marches on.
And this year just like other times,
We fall in with "The March of Dimes".
There's much to learn as we all know,
About this thing called Polio.
Research will ship out Polio,
But research takes a lot of dough.
What has been learned in later years,
Has helped to dry a lot of tears,
And brighten up the small child's face,
Who throw away his crutch and brace.
Great achievements have been seen,
Since Salk perfected his vaccine.
So let's not leave them in the lurch,
Give all you can to help research,
And maybe next thing we know,
We'll beat the thing called polio,
Now if by chance you read this rhyme,
Dig up two nickels or a dime.
Out of those old money socks,
And drop them in that plastic box.
Perhaps some tine you'll proudly say,
"I helped that child to run and play".
